Birthdays on the planet Ork are traumatic events which tend to be fatal without the strange power boosts from egg-shaped "gleeks." Mork's hours are numbered unless he can get a power recharge from his gleek before his fast-approaching birthday arrives--but Mindy has unwittingly put away the gleek with its look-alikes in an egg carton. Mork begins to speed up and slow down alternately as his memory fails. After Mork collapses at the McConnell music store, Frederick summons a doctor who happens to be a pediatrician. Dr. Phillips is so astounded by Mork's symptoms that Mindy's family is forced to reveal that the patient is from another planet.
